Calcareous ring

In Sea Cucumbers: An internal ring of usually 10 calcareous plates circling the pharynx or anterior part of the gut. Plates in the calcareous ring alternate in size, ranging from the radials (the largest) near the ambulacra, to the interradials (the smallest) adjacent to the interambulacra. Calcareous rings may take many forms (see the figures).
