(Jaeger, 1833)
H. (Metriatyla) ocellata is a white sea cucumber with its upper surface covered with brown speckling and characteristic white-ringed spots. It is a medium-sized species, with a 'sole', a firm body and a rough tegument with prominent lateral papillae. Spicules are moderately heavy tables and knobbed buttons. It is a coastal species, found in trawled samples.
Remarks: The colour patterns of H. ocellata and the tack-like spicules of H. martensii serve to distinguish these species.
