T. anax is a cream/brown sea cucumber mottled with red or brown (Thelenota anax 2[/l], Clark 1921, holotype). It is a large [l][m]Glossary[/m][r]Species[/r]species, square in cross section, lacking large ridged papillae, and with a smooth tegument. Spicules are branched rods with fine lateral spines. T. anax may be found on and between reefs, usually deep on soft sediments.
