(Brandt, 1835)
H. (Semperothuria) cinerascens is a red-brown to purple sea cucumber. It is a small to medium-sized species (to 160 mm), rather slender and cylindrical, with a soft and thick body wall and 20 tentacles. Its spicules are finely spinose rods (H. cinerascens spicules[/l]), and tables with a reduced disc, but bearing a characteristic maltese cross.
Remarks: Although widespread throughout the Indo-Pacific only one specimen has been recorded from southwest [l][m]Glossary[/m][r]Australia[/r]Australia.
