H. (Thymiosycia) impatiens is a sea cucumber with a variegated pink and brown. From reef animals, the most common patterns are variable dark and light bands of transverse colour. It is a small to large (150-250 (400) mm), cylindrical species with a tough tegument, prominent papillae, and a firm but pliable body. Remarks: Colour and pattern serve to distinguish Holothuria (Thymiosycia) species when alive, H. impatiens is very variable but much rougher than the rather soft H. hilla with which it could be confused.
