Stichopus chloronotus

S. chloronotus is a deep black-green sea cucumber with yellow/ red tips to the papillae. It is a medium to large species, firm but pliable, with a smooth tegument. It is square in cross-section, with prominent papillae along the lateral 'edges' (S. chloronotus photo[/l]): [l][m]Glossary[/m][r]Spicule[/r]Spicules are well developed tables with a small disc and "C" rods (S. chloronotus spicules[/l]). S. chloronotus may be found on [l][m]Glossary[/m][r]Reef[/r]reefs, and is common on rubble of the outer reef flat.
