A. typicus is a red-brown to purple sea cucumber. It is a small to medium-sized (to 175 mm), slender species, tapering towards ends. The body is rigid and the tegument tough. It bears tube feet confined to ambulacra, and 20 tentacles. Spicules are figure-of-eight fenestrated ellipsoids and irregular tables (A. typicus spicules[/l]). It is a [l][m]Glossary[/m][r]Coast[/r]coastal species, found below rocks or dredged from deeper water (> 10m).
