Neocucumis proteus

(Lampert, 1885)

N. proteus is a red, brown, grey or purple, small to medium, plump and ovoid sea cucumber, covered with large stiff tube feet. The body is soft and pliable, with 20 tentacles in 2 rings. Spicules are low spinous tables (often knobbed) and branched rods (N. proteus spicules[/l]). This speces can be found on [l][m]Glossary[/m][r]Reef[/r]reefs and in coastal areas, on sand.
